PURPOSE:To get rid of deposition of glass on a stem supporting member while improving workability by inserting a glass stem mounted with an electron gun into the bulb neck part followed by cutting the neck part about in the same position with the stem outer end before welding the neck part with the stem periphery. CONSTITUTION:An electron gun 6 is inserted into the neck part 1b' while elevating a supporting member 13. Further, a guide body 16 is pushed against the periphery of the neck part 1b' and a cutter 17 is pushed against the neck part 1b' for making a ring-shaped crack while turning the bulb 1' in order to make the guide body 16 to retreat. Said crack is formed about in the same position with the stem outer end. Next, the part of the crack of the neck part 1b' is heated by a burner 19 while turning the bulb 1'. The neck part 1b' is cracked from the cracked part through said heating to cut off the needless part including a flare 1a. Then, the end part of the neck part 1b' is welded with the stem periphery for finishing sealing while blowing cold against the sealing part for giving compressive strain to strengthen it followed by exhausting from a thin tube 13 for obtaining a cathode-ray tube through an aging process and an exterior conductive film forming process. |
