CONTINUOUS CASTING DEVICE FOR THIN PLATE

PURPOSE:To provide a titled device which prevents the deterioration in the characteristic of the edge parts and surface of a thin slab by the constitution in which a specified amt. of an inert gas is supplied under prescribed pressure into the space between a side dam and a continuous rotary casting mold to prevent penetration of a molten metal into said space. CONSTITUTION:A continuous casting device for a thin plate casts a thin slab 2 by supplying a molten metal from a tundish 4 via a side dam 3 installed above a continuous rotary casting mold of which the surface in the transverse direction of the plate is formed of a pair of casting rolls 1a, 1b rotating in the directions opposite from each other into said casting mold. Said dam 3 is provided adjustably in a vertical position by driving of a cylinder 13 and the amt. of the inert gas supplied from an inert gas source 11 via gas passages 10 to the space delta between said dam 3 and the above-mentioned rolls 1a, 1b is controlled to a constant flow rate. The size of said space delta is controlled via said cylinder 13 by a control panel 20 so that the inert gas maintains a prescribed pressure.
