PURPOSE:To prevent accumulation and sticking of oxidized scale to make high- precision measurement possible by providing water-cooled electromagnetic ultrasonic transmitting and receiving transducers and blowing air or/and water to faces of these transducers, which face an object to be measured, in the steady state and stopping this blowing in the non-steady state. CONSTITUTION:Transducers 2 and 3 are held in gap parts 5 vertically movably by jack devices 10 and cylinder devices 7 mounted on trucks 6 which are so provided that they can be freely moved back and force in the breadthwise direction of guide rollers 4. Transducers 2 and 3 are provided with spacer rollers 8, which are brought into contact with the surface of an object 1 to be measured and are rotated, and cooling water jets 9. Transducers 2 and 3 are allowed to rise or fall until spacer rollers 8 are brought into contact with the object 1 to be measured, thereby measuring the thickness of the object 1 to be measured automatically. A jet medium is blown in the steady state, for example, during measurement, during holding for measurement, or the like. |
