A heat and moisture exchanging device for respiration comprising a housing, having an inlet detachably connected to a tracheal cannula and an outlet detachably connected to a tube for passing respiratory air, and a permeable heat and moisture exchange body provided between said inlet and outlet. The device can indicate the respiration state of a patient by including an air pressure differential monitor operating across said outlet and inlet to detect the number of breaths per unit time, respired air volume and volume of tidal air. |
