PURPOSE:To improve conversion efficiency and performance by forming an electrode to a bump-shaped projection in a thin-film consisting of an amorphous silicon compound and forming the surface of the projection to an irregular shape. CONSTITUTION:A substrate 4 is constituted by a base body 1 consisting of a metallic foil or a glass plate, a thin-film 2 composed of an amorphous silicon compound with irregularities and a thin-film electrode 3. The thin-film 2 is formed so as to has a large number of knot-shaped projections in order to irregularly reflect beams, and beams having a wavelength effective for power generation can be reflected irregularly when the size of the projection is kept within a range of approximately 0.1-5mum. A thin-film consisting of a metal, such as Ag, Cu, Al, Au or the like is used effectively as the thin-film electrode 3. When the substrate 4 obtained in this manner is used, the amount of light taken into an active region in a photovoltaic element layer increases because incident light is irregularly reflected by the surface of the thin-film electrode 3 of the substrate 4, and the performance of a solar cell is improved. |
