PURPOSE:To print a specified character at a designated position, by a method wherein the first input means for designating a predetermined character and the second input means for designating a specified position are provided, and a character designated by the first input means is printed at the specified position. CONSTITUTION:Designated positions P1 and P2 are stored in a memory M, and specified position printing character information ''.'' is stored into a latch L1. First, when a printing head H is moved to a desired position and a key KD for designating the start of inputting a series of characters is depressed, a CPU reads the designated position P1 from the memory M, and the number of digit places to the position P1 is stored into a latch L2. When a numeral key K1 is depressed, a numeral ''1'' is stored into a register KR, and when a numeral key K2 is depressed, a numeral ''2'' is stored into the register KR. Then, when a key for ''.'' which is a designated character is depressed, the character ''.'' is stored into the register KR, and ''12.'' is displayed on a display device DSP. Thereafter, when a designating key KE is depressed, the head H is moved, the numeral ''1'' is printed at that position, the head H is then moved rightward by one digit place, the numeral ''2'' is printed, the head H is further moved rightward by one digit place, and the designated character ''.'' is printed at the designated position P1. |
