PURPOSE:To improve the surface quality, shape and dimensional accuracy of a steel material by descaling the steel material immediately before hardening so as to regulate scale remaining on the surface of the steel material after cooling in the hardening stage to a specified amount. CONSTITUTION:The thickness of scale on a steel material is made uniform after hardening by descaling the steel material immediately before hardening so as to regulate scale remaining on the surface of the steel material after cooling in the hardening stage to 0.3-0.8gr/dm<2>. Thus, the surface quality (appearance), internal uniformity, shape and dimensional accuracy of the steel material are improved simultaneously. |
