PURPOSE:To maintain always precisely the level of a locus of grinding surface in the X-Y direction by vertically moving a grinder main-body with the aid of a leveling plate provided with a slant guide, to correct the positional change of a whetstone, in an on-line grinding device by using a rotary whetstone. CONSTITUTION:A dolly 4 for taking in and out a main body is fitted to a slant guide of leveling plates 8 which are fitted to a plate on a stand and vertically moved by a motor-driven cylinder 10, and the whole body of a grinding device is pressed against a roll 1 and separated therefrom by a hydraulic cylinder 4'. A whetstone 3 is rotated, and is moved perpendicularly to the roll axis by a motor-driven cylinder 7' by guiding it with the aid of a frame 7 fixed to a traversing frame 9, which is fitted to a frame 9' formed in one body with the dolly 4 and is slid on the surface parallel to the roll axis. Further, when the grinding point of whetstone 3 changes, left and right columns 6, supported 11 by the frame 9' rock vertically through follow-up rolls 2 which are in contact with the roll 1, to extend and contract a balancing hydraulic-cylinder 16 installed between the columns 6 and a fixed frame 5. This amount of stroke is detected by a detector 18 to drive the cylinder 10 and move vertically the plates 8 placed at the operating and driving sides. |
