A method of operating a magnetic bubble memory (of the type that has a plurality of magnetic bubbles which move in a plane in response to a magnetic drive field (22) that rotates in said plane) includes the steps of sending respective currents through a pair of field coils (Lx, Ly) to produce the rotating magnetic field; generating at least one of the currents to consist of a series of positive and negative going waveforms (40, 41) separated by a dwell period (T1) so that the rotation of the field temporarily stops during the dwell period; and timing the dwell period to occur when the bubbles are at predetermined locations in the memory.
|
