The invention relates to a cutting apparatus for separating individually printed portions from a strip, in particular paper strip, preferably for ticket- or stamp-issuing machines, having a fixed counter-cutter and a motor-driven cutter designed with a cutting edge running obliquely with respect to the counter-cutter. In order to hold separated portions securely after the separating process and to provide the possibility of issuing several joined portions in addition to individually separated portions, a fixed stop is arranged on one of the cutters and a pressure piece displaceable counter to spring action is arranged on the other cutter, which pressure piece bears resiliently against the stop in the end position of the movable cutter after a complete separating operation, the movable cutter being able to be transferred into an intermediate position lying between the open position and the end position, in which intermediate position only an initial cut is made in the strip in order to form joined, manually separable portions.
