The invention includes a hot flue of known design. The supply and outlet of air now take place only through air guide boxes which are arranged between the running loops and which are divided by a wall, approximately at mid-height, into a suction box and a pressure box. The air guide box extends in each case over the height between the upper and lower row of deflecting rollers and also takes up the major portion of the clear width between the upward and downward runs of the length of material. Owing to these optimum dimensions of the air guide box, a totally parallel flow along the longitudinal direction of the length of material is achieved at a high air flow. <IMAGE>
