PURPOSE:To prevent any leakage of sulfuric acid outside a lead storage battery, which might be caused due to the corrosion of a lead alloy, by preparing the outer circumference surface of an electrode pole which touches an annular member from a sealing member made of ceramics. CONSTITUTION:An electrode pole 1 is obtained by providing a sealing member 3 made of ceramics unifyingly around an electrode-pole core 2 made of a lead alloy. As a means of unifying the core 2 and the sealing member 3 together, for example, the core 2 is formed by casting the lead alloy in a mold after the sealing member 3 is placed in the mold. Thus obtained electrode pole 1 is made to penetrate through the penetrating hole 5 of a container lid 4, and an annular O- ring 6 is attached around the electrode pole 1. After that, a male screw 8 provided in the sealing member 3 of the electrode pole 1 is screwed into a nut 7 which is made of a lead alloy and used as a caulking member, and the O-ring 6 is compressed between the nut 7 and the container lid 4 so as to make the O- ring 6 in pressure contact with both the sealing member 3 and the container lid 4. By the means mentioned above, the space formed between the electrode pole 1 and the penetrating hole 5 of the container lid 4 is sealed. |
