2-Nitro-1,1-vinylidene diamine derivs. of formula (I) and their acid-addn. salts are new (where R is 1-6C alkylene, pref. CH2CH2). (I) are histamine H2 receptor blockers which inhibit gastric acid secretion and are thus useful for treating peptic ulcers. They have somewhat higher activity than ranitidine and have low toxicity.
