PURPOSE:To obtain at a high speed a chain code showing the correct connection relation of lines with no undesired microloop by changing pictures into thin lines and tracking these pictures after deciding the connection relation. CONSTITUTION:The binary coded value of each picture element stored in a picture memory 5 is given to a stopgap processing circuit 1. A thin line conversion sorting circuit 2a performs sorting for thin line conversion. The picture element value obtained after the stopgap processing is stored to the memory 5. The A and B group memories 6 and 7 store the picture elements belonging to groups 6 and 7 respectively. The picture element value of the memory 5 is read out successively, and at the same time the contents of the memory 6 are read out. These value and contents are given to a thin line conversion circuit 2b. A connection decision circuit 3 detects a pattern with which the lines can be thinned and informs the pattern to a control circuit 10. This line thinning action is repeated and the end is decided with the line thinning action. In this case, a correct connection code is stored to a connection code memory 8 and then applied to a tracking circuit 4. |
