<p>The process consists of (a) providing acrylonitrile and one or more cpds. selected from styrene, a vinyl aromatic monomer, acrylic or other monomer; (b) forming an organic soln. of these and a chain transference agent, in which the acrylonitrile content is 10-90 wt.%; (c) preparing an aq., soln. contg. surfactant and initiators; (d) charging a reactor with part of the aq. soln., and part of the organic soln.; (e) initiating the reaction by heating the reactor to 50-150 deg. C under a current of inert gas; (f) after initiation, gradually adding the remainder of the organic soln. at a rate not exceeding 20% of the maximum velocity of copolymerisation.</p> |
