<p>Apparatus is described which consists essentially of a barrel (3) rotatably supported with its longitudinal axis inclined to the horizontal for rotation about the said axis. The barrel has one end open (8) for the loading in of pieces to be treated and its opposite end closed by a movable lid (9). This lid (9) is spaceable axially from the barrel to form an annular passage acting as a sieve of variable opening according to the size or shape of pieces which are to be discharged through the said passage. This apparatus allows the detachment and separation of cast pieces from risers and the like detached waste parts to be carried out rapidly and automatically.</p> |
