The gas-scrubbing device comprises a cylindrical vessel, with a trough (7) arranged in the lower part (1) thereof for a scrubbing agent. An exchangeable basket (10) with filter media and/or packing is arranged above the trough (7). An air feed branch (6) leads into a hollow space between the trough (7) and the basket (10). Nozzles (14) for spraying the scrubbing agent are provided above the basket (10). Depending on the gas to be purified, the corresponding baskets are inserted. The gas-scrubbing device is portable and can be used universally, and is therefore suitable especially for use in the case of gas accidents. <IMAGE>
