New triazine compounds conform to the formula I <IMAGE> where A, R1, X and Y are each as defined in Claim 1. They are prepared by condensing cyanuric chloride in any desired order with - a compound of the formula II or III <IMAGE> where R1, Ad and Ak are each as defined in Claim 5, - a compound X-H and optionally - alkali or a compound Yx-H, wherein Yx is NH2 or an aliphatic or aromatic amine radical, in the corresponding stoichiometric molar ratios, and if a compound of the formula II was used thereafter reducing the NO2 group. The compounds of the formula I are diazo or coupling components and intermediates for azo dyes.
