The rails are secured by bolted connections to the sleepers using resilient pads between the cross members and the feet of the rails. The pads alternate in rigidity, i.e. the dynamic rigidity of the pads on the even sleepers is less than that of the pads on the odd numbered sleepers. - The dynamic rigidity of the odd numbered pads is greater than that of the rails and the dynamic rigidity of the even numbered pads is less than that of the rails. The distance between them is determined according to the type of rail and the dynamic rigidity of the sleepers.
