METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CONTROL OF MAGNETO-OPTICAL DISK DRIVE

PURPOSE: To rapidly and also accurately search a desired track in a direct search system in an optical/magnetic disk drive. CONSTITUTION: To control a linear motor 24, a processor 10 executes a command speed generation algorithm and previously stores command speed data for distance where the motor 24 has to move in memory 12 in a look-up table mode instead of generating the command speed data. Then, it changes a read address of the memory 12 by using a track traversal pulse which is generated every time an objective lens crosses a disk track when the motor 24 moves and calls the command speed data that corresponds to move distance.
