PURPOSE:To form a notch at the free end of a skirt wall without adding a special stage by providing a projecting part of the 1st forming tool where the annular cutting edge of the trimming part of said tool projects locally. CONSTITUTION:The circumferential edge of a circular region 154 is deformed along the outside circumferential surface of a main forming member 20 in the 1st forming tool 18 by the effect of an outside forming tool 82 in the descending 2nd forming tool 80, by which the material is formed to a vessel cap 156 having a circular ceiling wall 158 and a cylindrical skirt wall 160. When the 2nd forming tool assembly 4 is thoroughly descended, the annular cutting edge regulated by the outside edge at the front end of a trimming member 24 in the 1st forming tool assembly 2 disconnects a bulging part 164 from the bottom end of the skirt wall 160 cooperatively with the front end edge on the inside circumferential surface of the member 82, thereby trimming the bottom end of the wall 160. A notch 166 of the shape conforming to the shape of the projecting part is formed at the free end of the wall 160 in this stage. |
