PURPOSE:To obtain good VSWR characteristic and directional pattern by corrugating the inside wall of a part of a horn where the inside diameter of the cross section is longer than 3lambdaL (lambda is a minimum used free space wavelength) and increasing the diameter of the inside wall of a feeding waveguide into an arc taper shape. CONSTITUTION:A horn antenna consists of a conical horn 1 where the diameter of the inside wall is increased linearly into a taper shape, a feeding waveguide 2, a flange 3, and bolts 4, and metallic fins 6 constituting a corrugation having a prescribed pitch are provided on the inside wall of a part of the conical horn 1 where the diameter of the cross section is longer than 3lambdaL. The diameter of the inside wall of the feeding waveguide 2 is increased toward the aperture side from the feeding hole into an arc taper shape or a raised cosine taper shape, and the feeding waveguide 2 is connected to the conical horn 1. Therefore, radio waves in the TE11 mode are propagated without reflection and are converted to EH11-mode waves efficiently, and the reflection at the connection point between the feeding waveguide 2 and the conical horn 1 is eliminated. |
