The invention relates to a device for fitting electronic components to printed-circuit boards. In this case, the connecting feet of the components are inserted into connecting openings of the printed-circuit board which is resting on an anvil. A monitoring device checks that the connecting feet have passed through the connecting openings, in that spring-loaded plungers per connecting foot are moved by a specific amount and in this case close off outlet openings of glass-fibre-optic cables and thus cause a reflection. This reflection is evaluated. The cutting to length and bending of the connecting feet on the side of the printed-circuit board facing away from the components is enabled as a function thereof.
