Press for pressing bulky, highly compressible materials, such as waste paper, with a feeding chute for the material to be pressed and a hydraulically actuated press plunger, whose pressing path corresponds to the length of the chute and which pushes the fully pressed material onto a discharging track, the piston rod of the press plunger (2) taking the form of an articulated lever (4, 5), a hydraulic piston-cylinder unit (7) acting on the centre axis (6) of the said articulated lever (4, 5). <IMAGE>
