PURPOSE:To improve the performance of an alkaline storage battery and reduce the time of immersion of a positive plate in aqueous alkali solution by decreasing the amount of nitrate ions contained in the positive plate by increasing the temperature of the aqueous alkali solution. CONSTITUTION:In the impregnation process of a positive plate, when the temperature of aqueous alkali solution is adjusted to be high, the amount of nitrate ions contained in the positive plate decreases improving the self-discharge characteristic and the discharge capacity of an alkaline storage battery thereby enabling the time of immersion of the plate in the aqueous alkali solution to be decreased. That is to say, as seen from the figure indicating the relationship between the time of the immersion in the aqueous alkali solution and the concentration of nitrate ions, decrease in the concentration of nitrate ions achieved in one hour at the conventional temperature of the aqueous alkali solution of 65 deg.C can be achieved in about 20min when the temperature of the aqueous alkali solution is adjusted to be 90 deg.C. |
