PURPOSE:To enable an engine to be stopped automatically even if any failures occur in a connection, by providing vertically movably a control rod for regulating fuel injection of a unit injector. CONSTITUTION:In a vertical shaft type outboard Diesel engine having a crankshaft 7 vertically disposed, is vertically movably provided a control rod 20 for regulating a fuel injection amount of a unit injector 9. The downward direction of this control rod 20 is set to the direction of decreasing fuel injection amount. Thus, even if any failures would occur in connections between a link, pin, lever or the like provided between the control rod and a governor, the control rod falls naturally to the direction of decreasing fuel injection amount. Thus, it serves to function as a safety device which stops automatically an engine. |
