PURPOSE:To make effective use of methanol as substitute fuel as well as to make inprovement in thermal efficiency, by installing a modifier modifying the methanole, a modified gas feeding part deefing an engine with the modified gas and a controller specifying the modified gas flow altogether. CONSTITUTION:A modifier 2 is provided with a catalyzer 5 modifying methanol into a modified gas. A modified gas feeding part B is provided with a valve 10 which regulates a flow rate of the modified gas flowing from the modifier 2 to a suction pile line 9 of a diesel engine 1. A controller 3 controls the modified gas feeding part B and sets the modified gas flow rate to a range of 25-60% (a heating value ratio). With this constitution, a flame propagation failure and a back flame are preventable from occurring, thus methanol is effectively utilized as substitute fuel and, what is more, improvements in thermal efficiency is well promoted. |
