PURPOSE:To attain quantization of a picture signal without error independently of the superiority of a modulation transfer function (MTF) of an image pickup device by using two quantization circuits to attain quantization in a picture signal quantizing system quantizing a picture signal obtained by photoelectric conversion. CONSTITUTION:A comparator 3 compares a picture signal inputted from an input terminal 1 with plural different comparison reference signals VR, quantizes the signal and inputs the result to a storage circuit 5. The storage circuit 5 consists of flip-flops FF1-FF5 and outputs a quantized signal voltage VC for three picture elements' share at each picture element to an ROM6 via signal lines S1-S6. The ROM6 stores a quantizing signal corresponding to the combination of the quantized signal voltages VC for three picture elements' share. The ROM6 uses the quantized signal for 3 picture elements' share inputted in parallel via the signal lines S1-S6 as an address signal and outputs a quantized signal VC' quantizing further the quantized signal VC of the picture element at the middle of the three picture elements according to the combination of the quantized signal VC for three picture elements' share to a terminal 7. |
