Stamping set (1) comprising at least one stamp unit (7) fitted with a stamp plate (8). The main feature of the said set (1) is that the said stamp unit (7) comprises first means determining essentially perpendicular movement of the stamp plate (8) against the surface of the item (3) being stamped. The stamp unit is embodied in a postal franking machine. The movement of the stamp head and its associated inking pad may be effected from cams on a cam-shaft, a further cam providing an "impression complete" signal. The cycle may be initiated manually or by workpiece detectors 10, 12, 13. The machine shown has two stamp units 7 which may be actuated simultaneously or sequentially. <IMAGE> |
