This invention relates to stabilized clinical control reagents, such as multiparameter control reagents useful for calibrating clinical chemistry analysers and for manual testing methods, isoenzyme control reagents including, for instance, CK and LDH isoenzyme, coagulation control reagents, plasma renin control reagents, and reagents for use in steriod receptor analysis. The present invention provides a stabilized clinical control reagent comprising an aqueous solution of biological analyte and sufficient plexiform stabilizing means selected from glucose, sucrose, reducing monosaccharide sugars and reducing disaccharide sugars to obtain substantially increased analyte stability over that obtained without such plexiform stabilizing means.
