PURPOSE:To prepare uracil efficiently, by treating a mold of Rhodotorula glutinis, a lyophilized mold, or an extract from the mold with dihydrouracil. CONSTITUTION:Rhodotorula glutinis IFO-0369 is capable of converting dihydrouracil to uracil in the mold even if it is cultivated in a medium using a common natural nutiritive source. When dihydrouracil is added to the medium, it further more converts dihydrouracil to uracil. So that, the mold of Rhodotorula glutinis, lyophilized mold, or an extract from the mold is reacted with dihydrouracil, to prepare uracil. By this process, about 0.4g/liter uracil can be accumulated in the reaction solution. |
