PURPOSE:To ensure the smooth and stable control of the head speed by setting a target speed curve so that the acceleration is reduced to the remaining distance at a place near the target position when the head is positioned. CONSTITUTION:When a head 1 is positioned, a target speed curve which shows the speed reduction produced with fixed acceleration at a section which is distant away from the target position by a fixed distance. While another target speed curve is set to show that the acceleraion is reduced to the remaining distance within a fixed distance from the target position. This setting system of target speed is stored in a microcomputer 10 of a magnetic disk device. The shift speed is obtained from the change of the position of the head 1. This shift speed is controlled in response to the target speed, and the present position of the head 1 is repetitively detected. Thus it is possible to always ensure the smooth and stable head speed control at a place near the target position. |
