PURPOSE:To relieve the shock to be produced at the fuel recovery, by keeping the fluid coupling in a non-lockup state for a preset period at the time of the fuel recovery. CONSTITUTION:A lockup controlling circuit 25 is provided with a timer 32 for counting the time after the engine has been shifted from a fuel cut state to fuel recovery state and a lockup inhibiting section 34 for putting the fluid coupling 1 in a non-lockup state for a preset period at the fuel recovery time responding to a signal from the timer 32, whereby, even if the shaft torque changes from a negative value to a positive value at the time of the fuel recovery, the change can be allowed to take place rather gently by the surge absorbing action of the fluid coupling 1, and the shock at the time of the fuel recovery can thus be relieved. |
