PURPOSE:To improve the emission efficiency by arranging a cathode symmetrically against a meshed anode then vibrating electrons reciprocally against the anode thereby increasing the probability of collision with radiation gas such as mercury drastically. CONSTITUTION:A pair of cathodes 2, 3 are constructed of thermion radiative filament which is heated by an external auxiliary power source to emit electron of about 1A. Main anode 4 and auxiliary anodes 8, 9 are meshed coarsely. The distance and the apply voltage between cathodes 2, 3 and auxiliary anodes 8, 9 are 0.1-1cm and 1-10V while these between the auxiliary anodes 8, 9 and main anode 4 are 1-10cm and 0-1V respectively. The coldest temperature of an outer tube 1 during operation is within 20-100 deg.C under ambient temperature of 25 deg.C while ultraviolet ray excitation visible conversion type phosphor substance 5 is applied onto the inner face of the outer tube 1 where the radiation gas to be encapsulated in the outer tube 1 is several to ten mg of mercury and rare gas of less than 0.1Torr may be encapsulated. |
