PURPOSE:To detect the end of a play with a simple mechanical structure by moving back an end detection lever to a position where said detection lever does not disturb an assist lever moving to its set position while a slide base is moving back to the play position. CONSTITUTION:An end detection lever 37 is turned clockwise by a projection part 18c of a drive gear 18 while a slide base is moving back to the play position. Thus the end part 37a of the lever 37 is moved back to a position where the part 37a does not disturb an assist lever 36 moving to its set position. Then a gear base moves forward and a tone arm also starts its advance. Thus the lever 36 moves to its set position. Then the lever 37 is turned counterclockwise by a projection part 18d of the gear 18, and the part 37a moves to have a contact with the edge of the lever 36 to be set there. Thus the end of a play can be detected in such a simple mechanical structure.
