PURPOSE:To detect assuredly an error data word by considering that all data words are erroneous of a data block series of a prescribed number of data words in case an error due to an error check code of a different series provided to said data block series. CONSTITUTION:A data block formed with a prescribed number of data words D1, D2-, a P-series parity check code P and a Q-series parity check code Q of error check codes of different series, a cyclic redundancy check code C of the block series, etc. as well as a synchronizing signal S and an address signal A. The error checking is applied to the data block by means of codes P and Q of different series in a demodulation mode. Then an error is detected. In such a case, the words D1, D2- of the block are all considered as erroneous. Therefore an error data word can be detected assuredly even in case the error detection is impossible with a code C when either one of words D1, D2- is miserased and reproduced as conventional. |
