PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium having superior wear resistance by using a binder consisting of specified acrylic modified polyurethane resin, a specified oligomer or prepolymer curable under electron beams, and a specified monomer curable under electron beams so as to improve the dispersibility of magnetic powder. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic layer contg. magnetic particles dispersed in a binder is formed on a support by a coating method. The binder consists of acrylic modified polyurethane resin having a quinquefunctional branched molecular structure or higher prepd. by reacting a polyester such as a reaction product of 1,4-butanediol with adipic acid as a skeleton with a diisocyanate and an acrylic compound, an oligomer or prepolymer having OH or COOH groups and curable under electron beams, and a monomer having at least one OH or COOH group and curable under electron beams. The dispersibility of the magnetic particles are improved, and a recording medium having improved magnetic characteristics, durability and wear resistance is obtd. |
