PURPOSE:To suppress increase of internal resistance in the late stage of discharge in a nonaqueous electrolyte battery by adding iron oxide to manganese dioxide which is pisitive active material. CONSTITUTION:In a battery having a negative electrode comprising light metal such as lithium, sodium, and a positive electrode comprising manganese dioxide, and nonaqueous electrolyte, a proper amount of iron oxide such as ferric oxide is added to manganese dioxide. In this nonaqueous battery, iron oxide in the positive electrode reacts on lithium of negative active material and iron which has good conductivity is produced. Therefore, increase of internal resistance caused by buildup of discharge product in the late stage of discharge is suppressed by iron produced by the reaction. |
