PURPOSE:To read information on a case while the case is loaded with simple and inexpensive constitution by providing a means for reading recording information on the magnetic disc storage case to a carriage for moving a magnetic head. CONSTITUTION:In reading recording information of bar code labels 3a, 3b of a loaded magnetic disc cassette 1, a prescribed voltage is applied to a phototransistor (TR)16a and a light emitting diode 16b of a reading element 16 provided to the carriage 10 at first, a stepping motor 13 is driven, a pulley 14 is turned in the direction of the arrow C, the carriage 11 is pushed and moved toward the arrow B by unwinding a steel belt 12a at the outside wound around the pulley 14, and the light emitting diode 16b is moved from the outer end to the inner end along the surface of the bar code label 3a. The reflected light of the light emitting diode 16b received by the photo (TR)16a in this case is changed by the stripe pattern of the bar code label 3a and a read signal S1 is led to an amplifier circuit 17. |
