<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a bright image display with a wide view angle without lowering an opening ratio in a horizontal direction electric field drive system by providing a pixel electrode and a common electrode in a wall having a prescribed height and constituting the wall an auxiliary capacity electrode and an insulation body covering the electrode. SOLUTION: A liquid crystal material 103 is held between substrates 101, 102. The walls 106, 107 are formed on the substrate 101, and the pixel electrodes 126, 127 are formed on both surfaces of the wall 106, and the common electrodes 125, 128 are formed on both surfaces of the wall 107. Then, the device is constituted so that the electrode 112 constituting one side of the auxiliary electrode is arranged in the wall 106 supporting the electrode 112.
