PURPOSE:To enable the presence of absence of a wood preservative by adding preliminarily a detecting agent for coloring having the specific onstitutional formula into the preservative and making use of the color that said detecting agent forms when treated with an acid. CONSTITUTION:When wood is merely treated with a preservative, the presence or absence of the presevative treatment is difficult to be detected even if the wood is observed from the outside. Even if an acid such as a sulfuric acid is simply coated on the wood subjected to the preservative treatment in such a case, the presence or absence of the preservative treatment is not easily detectable. This method consists of adding and mixing preliminarily the detecting agent expressed by the constitutional formula shown in the figure in and with the preservative and confirming the presence of said detecting agent in the wood by making use of the fact that the detecting agent forms sensitively a color on the acidic side even if the amt. thereof is slight thereby detecting quickly and easily the presence of the preservative in the wood, namely, that the wood is subjected to the preservative treatment, as well as detecting the impregnating condition and impregnation distribution thereof. |
