PURPOSE:To provide possibility of sensing if a tool is damaged in optimum condition at all times and to enhance the accuracy of the sensing, by setting the amplification ratio and discrimination level for the signal in an AE sensor automatically in accordance with the machining condition for each tool. CONSTITUTION:The tool no. or pot no. signal for a tool used is fed into a tool damage discriminator 6 from an NC control device 2, and a signal from an AE sensor 5 is input. The amplification ratio and discrimination level at said AE sensor 5 for each machining condition are entered in this tool damage discriminator 6 in correspondence to the tool no. previously. As the above- mentioned tool no. signal etc. is input, the AE sensor 5 is set to the amplification ratio and discrimination level corresponding to this signal. Accordingly, signal processing at the AE sensor 5 can be made in any machining to ensure that damage of tool is detected surely and accurately. |
