A tab has a clamping part with an outer tab ring and an inner tab ring and an information medium, the two tab rings being resiliently splayable to form a clamping gap for securing to the edge of a sheet. The information medium is a releasable strip of paper, cardboard, plastic or the like which can be clamped between the two tab rings and has an upper transverse slit and a lower transverse slit through which the outer tab ring can be inserted toward the front side of the strip until its end, after passing through the lower transverse slit, rests on the back of the strip. The clamping part consists of a conventional paper-clip. The tab ring is particularly simple and cheap, using conventional paper-clips as the clamping part, which performs a multiple function in that it also clips together multi-sheet document sections, holds the tab against them and simultaneously clamps the strip, as part of the tab, on the clamping part. Because of its low price the strip is discarded when the tab is no longer in use.
