PURPOSE:To secure the fixing and releasing of an information storing medium by providing an information storing medium holding means within a cassette and a hold releasing means at a recording and reproducing device on which the cassette is loaded. CONSTITUTION:A holding means 3 is equipped with pressing members 5a-5d which are pivoted freely and rotatably at four corners to be used as fulcrums within a cassette 1 on shafts 4a-4d of supporting points and a medium 2 is fixed by pressing part 7a-7d which consist of grooves of U-shaped cross-section of the pressing part 5 with being pressed at the peripheral part of an information storing medium 2. A hold releasing means 9 consists of releasing members 10a-10d fixed at a recording and reproducing device 8. the releasing members 10 enter within the cassette 1 by the loading of the cassette 1 and operating parts 11a-11d are pressed with tips and the pressing parts 7 are detected from the information storing medium 2, with the pressing members 5 rotated. The information storing medium 2 can be placed in a freely and rotatably state.
