In a tiltable sliding roof for a motor vehicle whose cover, which closes a roof cutout, is coupled at the front end about an axis which extends transversely with respect to the direction of travel on sliding shoes which can be displaced in guide rails and is provided in the central region of its length with link guides into which extension levers engage, the said extension levers being supported themselves in sliding elements which can be driven in the longitudinal direction of the guide rails, in order to ensure an exact control of the cover movements and of the limit positions of the cover on the one hand and in order to reduce the economic and technical expenditure required for this on the other, it is proposed that the extension levers be guided in rotary bearings arranged at a continuously fixed distance from the sliding shoes bearing the cover coupling at the front end, the rotary bearings being coupled, preferably via rigid connecting elements, to the sliding shoes which bear the cover coupling at the front end.
