摘要 To produce a good printed image with even character spacings and for clean correction of characters printed by mistake, precise switching of the positioning device for a printing mechanism carriage is required. In known office machines, the positioning of the printing mechanism carriage takes place via a stepping motor which is arranged in a manner fixed to the frame and is connected to the printing mechanism carriage via a toothed belt or a cable drive. In this case, a plurality of transmission members is required between the drive motor and the carriage which require precise and thus expensive production. The invention is based on the object of providing a positioning device for a printing mechanism carriage (3), which device allows precise positioning and can be used for inexpensive mass products. This object is achieved in that the drive motor (47) is arranged on the carriage (3), and in that its drive pinion (49) is engaged directly with a tooth gearing (57) of the one guide rail (21) for the carriage (3). That is to say said drive pinion (49) serves as driving and as guiding element, there being no intermediate transmission members between the carriage (3) and the drive motor (47). This results in a low-noise, inexpensive positioning device for a printing mechanism carriage (3). <IMAGE>
