The arrangement is intended for moving liquid metal (4) through a channel(4) by means of an electro-magnetic field generated by an inductor (1) extending parallel to the channel. The indicator is arranged above the channel and its distance above the level of liquid metal therein is pref. adjustable. The underside of the inductor assembly is pref. protected by a layer of heat-resistant material (3) whilst two heat resistant partitions (5,5') parallel to the channel extend downwards into the metal and define a central flow passage between them. These partitions, together with a bottom, may themselves form the channel.
