<p>The process comprises immobilising perviously activated spores of the bacterial strain to be studied (bacillus substilis, bacillus megaterium, etc) in a transparent solid gel of pH 4.6-10.8 to form a matrix, to which are applied solns. of possible inhibitors in conc. of 0.01-1M in buffer, medium at sites equidistant from a point at which a specific initiator or combination of initiators is applied. The system is then incubated at 4-55 deg.C and in the course of an hour, visible distortions of the transparent halo induced by the initiator are formed, at points where inhibition of the bacterial spores used has occurred.</p> |
