<p>Herbicidal phenoxypyridine compounds of the formula (I) < IMG > wherein each of A and B is hydrogen, halogen, or CF2H CF2C1-, or CF3, provided that at least one or A and B is haloyenomethyl, C is carboxyl or a functional derivative thereof, or halogen or OR1, SR1, or -NR1R2 wherein R1 is C3-C12 alkenyl, C1-C12 alkyl, or C1-C12 alkyl substituted by one or more or the following: phenyl; carboxyl or a functional derivative thereof; alkoxy, alkylthio, or mono- or dialkylamino, R2 is hydrogen, C3-C12 alkenyl, C1-C12 alkyl or C2-C6 alkylcarbonyl; and D is hydrogen, halogen, nitro or cyano provided that when A is CF3, B is chlorine, and D is halogen, nitro, or cyano, C is not (a) a C1-C4 alkoxy group, a COOR7 group wherein R7 is hydrogen, a cation, or a C1-C4 alkyl group; or (b) an < IMG > group wherein R7 is hydrogen, a cation, or a C1-C7 alkyl group.</p> |
