<p>Relatively small, generally flat pieces (1) of flexible, open plastics mesh structure are randomly embedded in a matrix (2) without creating a substantial amount of extra void space in the matrix (2). Each piece (1) comprises more than one mesh opening, has tenaceous junctions or intersections, has high dimensional stabilily in the plane of the piece, and has high flexural recovery. In the case of soil, a special machine can be provided which cuts up a reel (14) of continuous mesh structure and has a rotary digging tool (23) which digs up the top layer of soil and mixes the pieces (1) with the soil.</p> |
